Worthington, MA

Worthington is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Worcester metropolitan area.

The first Europeans to visit what would become Worthington were the Pilgrims in 1620. The town was officially founded in 1727 by Ebenezer Worthington and other pioneers from Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The town's name comes from its founder's last name and means "the farm on the river." Early industries included agriculture and milling; today, Worthington is known for its high-quality real estate and its proximity to Boston.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and , or 2.64%, is water. The highest point in Worthington is above sea level on Mount Tom near Route 9A/3A junction; however, much of the town falls below .
