Mahopac, NY

Mahopac is a small town in Westchester County, New York. It is located about 20 minutes north of Manhattan and about an hour from Albany. The population of Mahopac was 10,824 as of the 2010 census.

The town was first settled in the early 18th century by Dutch and English settlers. The area was known as "Mahonack" until 1792, when it was renamed for General James Clinton, then Governor-General of the United States. Mahopac became a village in 1812 and a town in 1817.

Today, Mahopac is home to many businesses and professionals, including doctors, lawyers, accountants and engineers. Many residents commute to jobs in Manhattan or Albany. There are also several schools in Mahopac serving students from pre-kindergarten through high school graduation.
