Hayneville, Alabama is a small town located in the northeast corner of the state. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Hayneville is home to several businesses and industries, including a paper mill and a poultry processing plant. The town's economy is largely based on agriculture and real estate.

The Hayneville area has been settled for over two centuries. In 1799, James Haynes established a trading post on the banks of the Coosa River. In 1819, John Wesley Hunt built a sawmill near Haynes' post. The town of Hayneville was founded in 1892 when the railroad was extended to that point.
