Forrest City, AR

Forrest City is a small town located in Forrest County, Arkansas. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Forrest City is home to the Forrest County Fairgrounds and the Forrest County Courthouse.

Forrest City was founded in 1892 by J.D. Forrest and named for him. The town was originally situated on the banks of the White River but was moved to its present location in 1902 due to flooding concerns. The town's economy is based largely on agriculture, with cotton being the primary crop grown. However, since 2000 Forrest City has seen a significant increase in commercial development as a result of its proximity to Little Rock and Fort Smith, two major metropolitan areas in Arkansas. As of 2010 there were over 100 businesses located in Forrest City, including restaurants, retail stores, and medical facilities.
