Knoxville, Arkansas is a city located in the northeast corner of the state. The population was 107,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County and home to the University of Tennessee. The city has a rich history dating back to 1819 when it was founded as Fort Sanders by General Andrew Jackson and Colonel John Coffee. Knoxville grew rapidly in the early 1800s due to its strategic location on the Cumberland River and its status as a transportation hub for goods moving between Nashville and St. Louis.
