Poplar Grove, AR

Poplar Grove is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is located in the northeast corner of the county and is bordered by Little Rock to the south and east, Jacksonville to the north, and Jacksonville Hills to the west.

The town was founded in 1881 as a railroad stop on the Little Rock & Fort Smith Railroad. The name Poplar Grove was chosen because of a large poplar tree near where the town was established. A post office has been in operation at Poplar Grove since 1881.

The economy of Poplar Grove is based largely on agriculture and tourism. The town has two churches, a grocery store, several restaurants, a bank, and several businesses that provide services to farmers and tourists. There are also two schools in Poplar Grove: one elementary school (grades K-6) and one high school (grades 7-12).

Real estate in Poplar Grove is primarily residential; there are no commercial buildings or industrial facilities within the town limits. The median price for single-family homes sold in 2010 was $129,000; however, prices can vary significantly depending on location within the town limits. Most homes were built between 1940 and 1970; however, there are some newer homes available as well.

Poplar Grove is located within close proximity to several major metropolitan areas: Little Rock to the south, Memphis to the east, Dallas/Fort Worth to the north, and Tulsa to the west.
