Chualar, CA

Chualar is a small town located in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains, about an hour east of Los Angeles. The town was founded in 1887 by a group of Spanish-speaking settlers who named it after Chualar, a small town in Andalusia, Spain. The population was just over 1,000 in 1990 and has since decreased to around 600 residents today.

The majority of Chualar's residents are employed in agriculture or related industries. There is also a small number of businesses and services that provide employment for locals. Tourism is not very important to the economy, although there are some seasonal jobs available during the summer months.
