Hayward, CA

Hayward, California is a city located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. The population of Hayward was 158,096 as of the 2010 census. Hayward is home to several major companies and institutions, including Hewlett-Packard Company, Kaiser Permanente, and Stanford University.

The city has been known for its housing developments since the late 19th century. In 1868, two brothers from New York City purchased 1,000 acres of land in what is now Hayward and began development of what would become one of the largest fruit orchards in California. The first housing tracts were developed in the 1920s and 1930s by developers such as Walter Ullman and William Davidson. These developments became known as " Hayward Hills."

Today, Hayward is a diverse city with a wide range of housing options for residents.
