Linden is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 36,815. The current mayor is Don Perata. Linden was founded by Charles Henry Linden on May 12, 1887. The city was initially known as " Linden Station" after its founder. In 1917, the town changed its name to honor its founder's son, Lewis Linden Jr., who had died in World War I at the age of 23.
