National City, CA

National City is located in San Diego County, California. The population was 106,815 at the 2010 census. National City is a suburb of San Diego and is part of the San Diego- Carlsbad- San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area.

National City was founded in 1915 and incorporated as a city in 1923. It was named for the National City Bank, which had opened an office in San Diego in 1902 and became one of the largest banks in the country. The bank's headquarters were located in National City until its merger with Chase Manhattan Bank to form JPMorgan Chase & Co., Inc., on September 16, 2000.

The city's economy is based on retail sales, professional services, health care, manufacturing and tourism. Major employers include Qualcomm Incorporated (headquartered here), Sysco Corporation (headquartered here), Wells Fargo & Company (headquartered here), American Express Company (headquartered here) and Jamba Juice Company (headquartered here).
