The Price of Home in Orland, CA

Orland is a city located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The population was 48,924 at the 2010 census. Orland is part of the Santa Clara County and is bordered by San Jose to the north, Fremont to the east, Newark to the south, and Campbell to the west.

The city's history can be traced back to 1868 when it was founded as a railroad town on land donated by local rancher John W. Geary. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad and became an important agricultural center for Silicon Valley. In 1905, Orland annexed its neighbor Newark which had been founded in 1878. The rapid growth of Orland led to conflicts with its neighbors over issues such as water supplies and zoning laws; these conflicts culminated in a lawsuit filed by Fremont against Orland in 1961 that was ultimately decided in favor of Fremont.

Today, Orland remains an important commercial center for Silicon Valley with a diverse economy that includes technology companies, agriculture, and manufacturing. The city has developed new neighborhoods such as Willow Glen and Eastridge which have attracted families seeking suburban living without sacrificing access to amenities such as shopping and dining opportunities downtown or within walking distance from their homes.
