Pixley, CA

Pixley is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley, in Stanislaus County, California. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census.

The Pixley area was first settled by Europeans in 1848. The town of Pixley was founded in 1881 and named for Charles Pixley, a railroad official. A post office has been in operation at Pixley since 1881.

Today, the economy of Pixley is based largely on agriculture and tourism. There are several wineries located within the town limits as well as several bed-and-breakfasts and restaurants catering to tourists. The main industries are dairy farming and poultry production. There is also a small commercial district that includes a general store, café, bank, hardware store and other small businesses.

The main transportation routes into Pixley are State Route 99 (the historic El Camino Real) and Interstate 5 (the Golden Gate Bridge). There is also access to U.S. Highway 99 via State Route 198 ( Pixley Road).
