East Hartford, CT

East Hartford is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 30,527 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous municipality in the county after the city of Hartford. East Hartford is also home to Wesleyan University and UConn Health Center.

East Hartford was first settled by colonists from New Haven in 1636 as part of the Farmington Colony. The town was incorporated on April 10, 1784 and named for Thomas East (1610-1681), one of the original proprietors of Farmington. East Hartford became a manufacturing center for textiles during the Industrial Revolution and later developed into an affluent suburban community with a strong middle class presence. In recent decades, East Hartford has experienced significant demographic change as it has become increasingly diverse and multicultural.
