Madison is a town in Madison County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Madison County.
The town was first settled in 1786 and incorporated in 1814. The town's name is derived from James Madison, fourth President of the United States. The area around Madison was once part of the Farmington Valley and was known for its dairy farms and orchards. In recent years, however, much of the farmland has been replaced by residential and commercial development.
