South Windsor, CT

South Windsor is a town in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 10,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford–West Hartford–East Hartford metropolitan area.

The town was first settled in 1764 by Ebenezer and Jonathan Edwards, who were among the founders of Windsor. The town was incorporated in 1802 from parts of Windsor and East Windsor. The town's name comes from the English county of Berkshire.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. South Windsor borders Bloomfield to the north; Manchester to the east; Simsbury to the south; and West Hartford to the west.

As of 2000, there were 9,906 households out of which 36% had children under age 18 living with them, 54% were married couples living together, 11% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28% were non-families. 21% of all households were made up of individuals and 7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.17
