Thompson is a town in Windham County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford–West Hartford–East Hartford Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Thompson was first settled in 1754 by Ebenezer Thompson and his family. The town was originally called Thompson's Mills after Ebenezer Thompson's mill on the Farmington River. The name was changed to Thompson in 1803 in honor of General James Thompson, who fought in the American Revolution and later served as Governor of New York.
