Wallingford, CT

Wallingford is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 21,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford metropolitan area.

The town was first settled in 1764 by Ebenezer and Jonathan Wallingford. The town was incorporated on March 3, 1795. The town's namesake is Ebenezer Wallingford (1714-1789), one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and a U.S. Representative from Connecticut.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land. It is bordered by West Hartford to the north, Windsor to the east, New Britain to the south and west, and Manchester to the northwest.

The highest point in Wallingford is above sea level on Mount Tom near Prospect Hill Road and Farmington Avenue; it offers views of downtown Hartford as well as New Britain Hills in Windsor across Long Island Sound.

As of 2000 there were 16 businesses in downtown Wallingford; as of 2006 there were 36 businesses with an estimated payroll over $1 million each year (according to Forbes).
