The Price of Home in Westbrook, CT

Westbrook is a small town located in the northwest corner of Connecticut. The population was 2,921 at the 2010 census. Westbrook is home to a variety of businesses and industries, including real estate.

The history of Westbrook's real estate industry can be traced back to the early 1800s. At that time, Westbrook was a small farming community with few businesses other than mills and taverns. The first recorded sale of property in Westbrook occurred in 1803 when Moses Brown sold land to Ebenezer White. In 1814, John Hurd purchased land from White and began developing it into a farmstead. In 1827, Hurd sold his farm to James Robinson and Jonathan Warner. These two men were responsible for developing much of the town's early real estate holdings.

In 1840, Joseph Prentice purchased land from Robinson and Warner and began developing it into what is now known as Prentice Park. Prentice was one of the first developers in Westbrook to use wood frame construction techniques for building homes instead of traditional brick or stone structures. This innovative approach led to the development of many distinctive homes in Westbrook, including The Old Stone House (now known as The Inn at Prentice Park), which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Westbrook's economy shifted from agriculture to manufacturing due to its proximity to Hartford (the state's capital). This change led to an increased demand for housing by Hartford residents who worked in nearby factories. As a result, many new subdivisions were developed throughout Westbrook during this time period, including Eagle Hill (1902), Brookside (1906), Glenbrook (1910), Woodlands (1912), Maplewood (1920), Northwoods (1920), Country Club Estates (1924), Brookside II (1926) and Weston Hills (1929).

Today, Westbrook remains an active community with a strong real estate industry. Many new subdivisions have been developed over the past several years, including Willow Ridge Estates(2006), Hearthstone Woods(2007) ,Briarcliff Manor(2008) ,Windsong Village(2009) ,Oakleigh Farms(2010)and Hearthstone Woods II(2011). There are also numerous older neighborhoods that continue to see redevelopment activity such as Brookside I & II(2002-2004 ),Pinehurst Estates(2005-2007 ),Willow Glen Estates&Woodlands Crossing.(2008-2010 )and Weston Hills II&III.(2011-present ).
