Edgewater, FL

Edgewater is a town located in Broward County, Florida. The population was 10,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale– Pompano Beach– Deerfield Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The town of Edgewater was founded in 1926 by developers Albert and Maurice Schwartz. The name Edgewater was chosen because it sounded like a "nice place to live." The original development consisted of just over 100 homes on a 1,000-acre tract that stretched from Sunrise Boulevard to the Intracoastal Waterway.

Today, Edgewater is one of South Florida's most popular residential communities with an abundance of amenities and shopping opportunities nearby. Residents enjoy miles of sandy beaches, world-class golf courses, championship tennis facilities and much more. There are also numerous restaurants and retail outlets available for residents' convenience.

Real estate in Edgewater has always been popular due to its proximity to all that the area has to offer: world-renowned beaches and resorts; championship golf courses; top-rated shopping areas; excellent schools; and plenty of entertainment options both big and small.
