Immokalee, FL

Immokalee, Florida is a small town located in the heart of citrus country. The town was founded in 1887 and named for the Immokalee Indians who once lived there. Today, Immokalee is known as the "Citrus Capital of the World."

The main industry in Immokalee is citrus production. There are over 1,000 acres of citrus trees in the town, and it's estimated that over 95% of all oranges grown in the United States come from Immokalee. In addition to oranges, other fruits grown in Immokalee include grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, limes and pomelos.

The majority of residential property in Immokalee is owned by individuals or families who have been farming citrus crops for generations. However, there has been a recent trend towards development of new housing tracts and condos near the commercial areas of town. This growth has resulted in increased demand for residential property and has put pressure on prices for existing homes.

Real estate prices vary greatly throughout Immokalee due to its location within a major agricultural region and its lack of infrastructure (such as schools or hospitals). Homes that are close to the commercial areas can command high prices while properties located further out may be much cheaper. In general, homes that are newer or have better features (such as pools or garages) tend to be more expensive than older homes.
