Tarpon Springs, FL

Tarpon Springs is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 27,527. The city is home to the Tarpon Springs Museum of Art and the Tarpon Springs Playhouse.

The first settlers in what would become Tarpon Springs arrived in 1883. The community was originally known as "Tarponville." In 1886, a post office was established and the name was changed to " Tarpon Springs." The town's original economy was based on fishing and agriculture. In 1915, a phosphate mine opened near Tarpon Springs and contributed significantly to the city's growth.

Today, Tarpon Springs is an affluent city with a diverse economy. Major industries include tourism, health care, retail sales, manufacturing and services. The city is also home to several notable institutions including the Tarpon Springs Museum of Art and the Tarpon Springs Playhouse.
