Weirsdale is a small town located in Sarasota County, Florida. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bradenton- Sarasota- Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The town was founded in 1892 by George Weir and his wife, Lillie (née Houghton). Weir's original land grant consisted of . In 1907, he donated an additional to the town for use as a park. The park was renamed Weir Park in his honor.
Weirsdale is home to the Weirsdale Golf Club, which has been in operation since 1922. The club features an 18-hole golf course designed by famed golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1923.
The Weirsdale Historical Society Museum is located on Main Street in the center of town and contains exhibits on local history as well as items from the estate of noted Sarasota artist Marguerite Wildenhain (1892-1978). The museum also houses a library and archives with materials dating back to 1786.
Weir Park is home to several tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a playground, and several picnic areas. There are also two swimming pools - one public and one private - within walking distance of downtown Weir Park.
