Alpharetta, GA

Alpharetta is a city located in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 27,871. Alpharetta is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs- Roswell, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The city was founded in 1878 by John W. Alpheus and named for Alphonso de Lesseps, builder of the Suez Canal. The first post office opened on January 2, 1879. The city's incorporation took place on February 9, 1906. Alpharetta is home to North Point Mall and has several other shopping venues nearby including The Promenade at Cobb Galleria and Lenox Square Mall.

Real estate prices in Alpharetta have seen steady growth over the past few years as more people move into the area due to its excellent schools (including two nationally ranked private schools), low crime rate and proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Atlanta and Savannah.
