Jeffersonville, GA

Jeffersonville is a city located in the northwest corner of the state of Georgia. The population was 33,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bibb County.

The city was founded in 1827 by General James Oglethorpe on land donated by General Andrew Pickens. The original name for the town was Jefferson Barracks, but it was changed to Jeffersonville in honor of President Thomas Jefferson after he had visited the area.

The economy of Jeffersonville is based largely on its role as a regional center for commerce and services. Major employers include Bibb County government, Tyson Foods, and UPS. The city also has a growing medical tourism industry due to its many health-related facilities, including two major hospitals (Bibb Regional Medical Center and North Georgia Medical Center).

Real estate in Jeffersonville is highly sought after due to its proximity to Atlanta and other major metropolitan areas as well as its many amenities and attractions, including Lake Lanier National Park and Mount Mitchell National Forest.
