Peachtree City is a city located in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 34,812. Peachtree City is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1892 as a streetcar suburb of Atlanta and was incorporated as a town in 1907. It became an independent city in 1961 and adopted its current name in 1978. The city's economy is based on retail sales, government services, and professional and business services. The city has two major shopping centers: The Shops at Peachtree Hills and Lenox Square Mall.

The downtown area features several historic buildings including the Carnegie Library (built 1914), the former home of WSB-TV (now WGCL-TV) (built 1922), and the former home of Peachtree Newspapers (now part of GateHouse Media). Other notable buildings include The Renaissance Hotel (built 1927) which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, First Baptist Church (built 1895), Stonewall Jackson Middle School (opened 1971), and Parkview High School (opened 1969).

In 2006, Peachtree City voters approved a $175 million bond issue to improve infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, parks, libraries and other municipal facilities. In 2007 Mayor Bill Campbell announced plans for a new downtown library that would be built adjacent to Lenox Square Mall on land currently occupied by Macy's department store; construction began later that year but was halted due to financial difficulties. In 2009 Mayor Campbell announced plans for another new downtown library on land currently occupied by Sears department store; construction began later that year but was also halted due to financial difficulties.
