Arlington, IL

Arlington is a city located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 61,898. Arlington is the county seat of Cook County and one of the largest cities in Illinois. The city is located on the eastern bank of the Chicago River and adjacent to downtown Chicago.

Arlington was founded in 1853 as a town on land donated by James Wabash and named for General Robert E. Lee. The town grew rapidly as a transportation hub on the Great Lakes Route and became an industrial center with factories producing farm implements, locomotives, automobiles and aircraft parts. After World War II, Arlington became home to many high-tech companies such as Motorola and Ampex Corporation. In recent years, Arlington has experienced rapid growth due to its proximity to downtown Chicago and its strong economy.

Today Arlington is home to many businesses including banks, law firms, hospitals, technology companies and retailers. The city also has a growing arts community with several theaters and museums. Arlington is well known for its parks including Washington Park which features a lakefront beach and playgrounds as well as athletic fields for soccer, baseball and other sports
