Brookport, IL

Brookport is a small town located in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Brookport is known for its beautiful architecture and historic district. The town was founded in 1837 and was originally called North Brookport. It was renamed Brookport in 1857 after the nearby river, the Brook.

The town's architecture is a mix of Victorian and Classical Revival styles. Some of the most well-known buildings in Brookport are the Town Hall (1887), the Masonic Temple (1892), and St. John's Episcopal Church (1888).

The downtown area is home to many businesses, including a bank, a grocery store, several restaurants, and a movie theater. There are also several churches located in downtown Brookport: First Presbyterian Church (1893), Trinity United Methodist Church (1907), and St John's Episcopal Church (1888).
