Creston, IL

Creston is a small town located in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. Creston is located in northeastern Illinois, about 25 miles northeast of Chicago and 10 miles south of the Wisconsin border.

The town was founded in 1853 by George W. Wright and named for his home town of Creston, England. Wright had come to America as a young man and settled in Galena, Illinois where he became involved in the lumber business. In 1852 he decided to move his family to what is now Creston and began clearing land for farming. He built a sawmill and a grist mill on the banks of the Fox River which gave the town its first economic boost. Wright also served as mayor of Creston from 1868-1872.

Today, Creston is primarily an agricultural community with several small businesses scattered throughout the town center. The main industry is agriculture with crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat and hay being grown on local farms. There are also several dairy farms in the area along with poultry production facilities and a meat packing plant operated by Tyson Foods Incorporated . Tourism is also an important part of the economy with visitors coming to see attractions such as The Fox River Valley Museum , which features exhibits on local history; The Pioneer Village , which showcases life in early 1800s; and Lake Michigan beaches just minutes away from downtown Creston

Real estate has always been an important part of Creston's economy with homes being sold both locally and nationally. In recent years there has been an increase in interest from people looking to buy or invest in property within the community due to its stable economy, low crime rates and close proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Chicago and Milwaukee .

Despite this growth however there are still some areas that could use improvement when it comes to real estate availability & affordability within Creston . For example: while there are plenty of homes available for sale (especially compared to other towns nearby), prices continue to be high relative to incomes ; inventory levels remain low (especially compared to other markets around Chicago) ; few new homes are being built ; & there continues be concern about potential development impacts on local farmland should larger scale projects move forward . Nevertheless despite these challenges (and others) I believe that real estate remains an important part of our community's future – providing both residents & businesses with opportunities for growth & prosperity
