Elmhurst is a city located in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 58,912. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1854 and was named for Elmhurst Plantation, which was owned by James K. Polk and his wife Sarah Childress Polk.

Elmhurst is home to many large corporations such as Sears Roebuck and Co., JBS USA, Abbott Laboratories and Motorola Solutions Incorporated. These companies have helped make Elmhurst one of the wealthiest cities in Illinois with a median household income over $100,000 as well as one of the most expensive places to live in America according to Forbes magazine.
