Pontiac is a city located in the U.S. state of Illinois, and is the county seat of Oakland County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 129,827. Pontiac was founded in 1796 by General James Robertson and named for Prince de Condé, who was Regent of France at the time. The city became known as "The Paris of America" because so many French immigrants settled there in the early 1800s.
