Rock City, IL

Rock City is a small town located in Williamson County, Illinois. The population of Rock City was 1,851 as of the 2010 census. Rock City is located in the heart of the Illinois Ozarks and has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The town was originally named "Rocky Ford" after a stream that ran through it. In 1853, the town was renamed " Rock City" after a local landmark known as "The Rocks".

Today, Rock City is home to many businesses and attractions that make it a popular tourist destination. The main attraction in Rock City is its historic downtown district which features several shops and restaurants. Other attractions in Rock City include the Ozark Folk Center, which features exhibits on regional folklore; the Big Springs Recreation Area; and Devil's Den State Park, which offers hiking trails and camping opportunities.
