The history of Schiller Park can be traced back to 1837 when German settlers began to arrive in the area. The town was originally called "Klein Schiller" after Count Carl von Schiller, a famous German poet and playwright. In 1892, the name was changed to " Schiller Park" in honor of Friedrich von Schiller, a famous German writer and philosopher.
