Tinley Park, IL

Tinley Park is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The population was 34,814 at the 2010 census. Tinley Park is part of Cook County.

The history of Tinley Park dates back to 1892 when the land was purchased by George and Louisa Tinley. The Tinleys built a small farm on the property and raised chickens and pigs. In 1917, they built a small hotel on the property which became known as the " Tinley Park Hotel". The hotel was later renamed the " Tinley Park Inn". In 1923, George Tinley died and his wife Louisa continued to operate the inn until her death in 1957.

In 1958, James J. Daley purchased the inn from Louisa's estate and renamed it " Daley's Inn". Daley's Inn became one of Chicago's most popular tourist destinations due to its proximity to Wrigley Field and its many famous guests including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Elizabeth Taylor, Elvis Presley, John F Kennedy Jr., Michael Jackson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1985, Daley's Inn was sold to developers who planned to demolish it and build a new shopping mall on the site but community opposition led them to change their plans and instead build a luxury condominium complex which now houses some of Chicago's wealthiest residents.

Today, Tinley Park is home to several large corporate headquarters including Sears Holdings Corporation (formerly Sears Roebuck & Co.), Abbott Laboratories (formerly American Home Products), Baxter International Incorporated (formerly Baxter Healthcare Corporation) as well as several high-end residential developments such as Regency at Tinley Park which features homes ranging from $1 million up $5 million+.
