Hazleton, IN

Hazleton is a city located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 21,521. Hazleton is the county seat of Luzerne County and is situated along the Susquehanna River. The city's name derives from early settler John Hazleton who purchased 640 acres (259 ha) of land in 1786 from William Penn. Hazleton became a borough on October 9, 1845 and was chartered as a city on April 11, 1853.

The economy of Hazleton has traditionally been based on manufacturing and mining; however, during the late 20th century it transitioned to service industries such as healthcare and technology. In recent years there has been an increase in residential development as well as retail and office space. The city has made efforts to improve its infrastructure including upgrading its water supply system and constructing new schools and parks.
