Westfield, IN

Westfield is a city located in Hamilton County, Indiana. The population was 49,836 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hamilton County.

The city was founded in 1818 and named for General Charles C. Westfield, who fought in the War of 1812. The first settler arrived in 1819. The city's economy was based on agriculture until the early 20th century, when it became an industrial center due to its location on the Ohio River and railroads passing through it. Manufacturing continued to play a significant role in the economy until the late 20th century; however, since then, Westfield has diversified into other industries such as health care and information technology.

Today, Westfield is considered one of Indiana's most desirable places to live with its wide variety of housing options and excellent schools. Its location close to major metropolitan areas makes it easy for residents to commute into Indianapolis or Cincinnati while also having plenty of amenities available within its own community including shopping malls, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
