Burlington, IA

Burlington is a city located in Burlington County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,521. Burlington is the county seat of Burlington County.

The city was founded in 1836 and named for Burlington, Vermont. The first settlers arrived in 1837 and built a log cabin on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River. The town grew slowly at first; it did not become an official city until 1853. In that year, Burlington's first mayor, James Paulding, renamed the town after Burlington, Vermont to promote its growth.

Today, Burlington is a thriving community with many businesses and attractions. The city has a number of parks and recreational areas as well as a variety of shopping options. It is also home to several colleges and universities including Drake University and Iowa State University- Ames Campus.
