Eldora, IA

Eldora is a small town located in Lee County, Iowa. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Eldora is home to the Eldora Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races and other events.

The town of Eldora was founded in 1881 by George W. Eldredge and his brother-in-law, Charles A. Brown. The town was named after the English village of El Dorado, which was said to be a place where gold could be found in abundance. The Eldredge brothers were successful businessmen who invested in real estate and other ventures in Eldora.

Today, Eldora is a thriving community with many businesses and attractions that draw visitors from around the country. The town is home to the Eldora Speedway, which has hosted NASCAR races for over 50 years. Other attractions include the Eldorado Hotel & Casino, which features a casino, restaurants, and shops; and the historic district featuring Victorian homes dating back to the early 1900s.

The economy of Eldora is based largely on tourism and agriculture.
