Eldridge is a small town located in Johnson County, Iowa. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Eldridge is a farming community that has seen its share of changes over the years. In 1884, Eldridge was founded by James and Mary Eldridge. The town was named after their home county in England. At its peak, Eldridge had a population of more than 2,000 people. However, due to the Great Depression and other factors, the population dwindled to just over 1,000 people by 2000.
