Evansdale is a small town located in Polk County, Iowa. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. Evansdale is located at 41°3′N 91°53′W / 41.61111°N 91.81667°W / 41.61111; -91.81667 (41.627889, -91.827778).

The town of Evansdale was founded in 1856 by James and Nancy Evans and named for their son, Edwin Evans who served as a captain in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The town grew slowly at first but began to experience rapid growth after World War II when veterans returned home and started families.
