Hamilton is a city located in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,527. It is the county seat of Johnson County.

Hamilton was founded in 1839 and named for General James Hamilton, who fought in the War of 1812. The city's economy has traditionally been based on agriculture and manufacturing.
