Downs, KS

Downs is a small town in Wyandotte County, Kansas, located about 20 miles northeast of Kansas City. Downs was founded in 1871 and named for the downy woodpecker, which was abundant in the area at the time. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Downs is home to Downs Independent School District and has a variety of businesses including a grocery store, gas station, restaurant and several small businesses.

Real estate in Downs is primarily residential with some commercial development. The majority of homes are single-family dwellings with modest acreage requirements. Downs has good access to highways and other infrastructure making it an attractive place to live or invest.
