Humboldt, KS

Humboldt is a small town in the eastern part of Kansas. It is located on the Osage River, about halfway between Wichita and Topeka. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census.

The first settlers in Humboldt were German immigrants who arrived in 1871. The town was named for Wilhelm von Humboldt, a German philosopher and scientist who lived from 1769 to 1859.

Today, Humboldt is a thriving community with a strong economy based on agriculture and tourism. The main industries are farming, cattle ranching, and tourism. There are several businesses that cater to tourists, including bed and breakfasts, restaurants, museums, wineries and golf courses.
