Hutchinson, KS

Hutchinson is a city located in Hutchinson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,711. The city is the county seat of Hutchinson County.

The first settlement at what would become Hutchinson was made in 1855 when a group of settlers from Indiana arrived and established a trading post on the banks of the Smoky Hill River. The town grew slowly at first, but began to take off after the arrival of the railroad in 1872. By 1900, Hutchinson had a population of over 10,000 and was considered one of the most prosperous towns in Kansas.

Today, Hutchinson remains an important economic center in central Kansas. The city is home to several major businesses and industries, including Tyson Foods Inc., JBS USA Inc., Koch Industries Inc., and Hallmark Cards Incorporated. Additionally, Hutchinson is home to several colleges and universities, including Wichita State University (WSU), Mid-America Nazarene University (MANU), and Baker University (BAK).
