Johnson, KS

Johnson is a small town located in Wyandotte County, Kansas. The population was 2,927 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wyandotte County.

The first settlers arrived in Johnson in 1859. The town was named for General James K. Johnson, a hero of the Mexican-American War and the founder of Johnson City, Tennessee. Early businesses included a blacksmith shop and a general store.

In 1871, the railroad came to Johnson and began to develop it as a trade center for surrounding agricultural areas. The town's first hotel was built that year and it soon became known for its fine dining establishments. In 1892, the Kansas Pacific Railroad built a depot in Johnson and began to attract businesses from nearby cities such as Lawrence and Topeka.

Today, Johnson is still an important trade center for the surrounding area with several major businesses including Tyson Foods, BNSF Railway Company, JB Hunt Transport Services Inc., and Koch Industries all having facilities in or near town. There are also several smaller businesses that provide goods and services to residents of Johnson County and Wyandotte County alike.

There are several parks located throughout Johnson including Mill Creek Park which features a playground, basketball court, horseshoe pits, picnic pavilion with grills available for use by visitors from outside of Kansas City Metro Area (KMCMA), tennis courts (both lighted & unlighted), baseball diamond (used by both amateur & professional teams), football field (home field of local high school football team) as well as other amenities such as an outdoor pool open during summer months . Additionally there are two public golf courses - one operated by city government & one operated by Country Club Hills Golf Course - both within city limits but accessible via I-435 exit #220A or #220B respectively . There are also numerous restaurants & retail stores located throughout downtown including: Chick-fil-A®, Starbucks®, Subway®, Domino's Pizza®, Papa John's Pizza®, Kroger® grocery store etc...

Real estate prices vary greatly depending on location within town but generally speaking homes range from $50K-$200K while commercial properties can be found starting at $100K+.
