Russell, KS

Russell, KS is a small town located in the southeast corner of Kansas. The population was just over 2,000 in 2010. The town was founded in 1871 and named for Dr. James Russell, a doctor and politician from Kentucky. Russell is home to the historic courthouse square and several businesses that cater to tourists, such as the Russell General Store and the Russell Museum of Art.

The economy of Russell is largely based on agriculture, with crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton grown on local farms. However, since the early 2000s there has been a growth in tourism due to the presence of attractions like the courthouse square and the museum. In addition to these traditional tourist destinations there are also several bed-and-breakfasts and vacation rentals available in Russell.

Real estate in Russell is dominated by single family homes although there are also some apartments available for rent. Prices for homes range from around $100,000 to well over $1 million depending on size and location. There is also a limited amount of commercial real estate available for lease or purchase including a few small businesses catering to tourists or locals living close by.
