Turon, KS

Turon is a small town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, located about thirty miles north of Wichita. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Turon was founded in 1872 and named for the Spanish word for a type of pear.

The town's economy is based largely on agriculture and real estate. There are several large farms in the area, as well as several small businesses that provide services to the agricultural community. The majority of housing in Turon is single-family homes, although there are a few apartment complexes and some commercial buildings. The median price of a home in Turon was $128,000 in March 2016.
