Flatwoods, KY

Flatwoods is a small town located in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky. The town was founded in 1812 and has a population of just over 1,000 people. Flatwoods is known for its natural beauty and history, as well as its thriving real estate market.

The flatwoods area was first settled by the Shawnee Indians in the early 1800s. The land was eventually purchased by James Bledsoe, who named it Flatwoods after the rolling hills that surrounded the settlement. In 1812, Bledsoe established a post office and began to sell land to settlers. The town grew slowly at first, but began to take off after the construction of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in 1853 brought new residents and businesses to Flatwoods.
