Hammond, LA

Hammond, Louisiana is a small town located in the northwestern corner of the state. The population was just over 2,000 in 2010 and has been slowly declining since then. Hammond is best known for its cotton plantations and the surrounding agricultural area. However, real estate in Hammond has seen a recent resurgence as the town tries to reinvent itself as a tourist destination.

The first phase of Hammond's redevelopment began in 2007 with the construction of an outdoor amphitheater and convention center. This was followed by the opening of several new restaurants and shops, as well as a hotel. In 2013, Hammond announced plans to build a $50 million casino resort on land adjacent to the convention center. The project has faced opposition from some residents who are concerned about increased traffic and crime rates. However, so far the casino resort appears to be moving forward smoothly.

One reason for Hammond's recent real estate success is its location: it is close to several major tourist destinations ( New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport), but still relatively isolated from large cities. Additionally, Hammond's historic architecture and rural setting make it an attractive place to live or invest in property.
