Hagerstown, MD is a city located in Washington County, Maryland. The population was 30,837 at the 2010 census. Hagerstown is the county seat of Washington County and is home to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The town was founded in 1799 and named for General Henry Hager (1746-1827), who served as a general in the American Revolution and later as a U.S. senator from Maryland.
