Randallstown was founded in 1792 as a small crossroads settlement on land donated by George Randall III. The town grew rapidly in the early 1800s as it became an important transportation hub for farmers and merchants who supplied goods to Baltimore and Washington. In 1851, Randallstown became one of the first towns in Maryland to be connected to the railroad system when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad built a line through town.
